This film documents the production of director and choreographer Alexander Ekman’s breathtaking version of “Swan Lake” at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. It also gives viewers an inside look at what it’s like to create art in a place where culture is considered a national asset that is greatly encouraged. The opera house’s resources are all dedicated to this project, resulting in wonderfully creative ideas – such as dance that takes place on water and requires the dancers to control their bodies on the slippery surface. Everyone involved in this project devotes all of their energy to it and derives great pleasure from the collaboration, as this film attests.
