COMPAS Dance Company, founded and artistically directed by the dancer and choreographer Mijal Natan. Natan and her company reveal to the Israeli audience the diverse range offered by the art of flamenco, not only as a dance rich in tradition, but as a living and kicking art, always available to pour something new into it, to serve as material in the hand of the creator, who steers flamenco into new realms of imagination. Both in the performance and in the creative processes, Natan and her dancers emphasize the richness inherent in Spanish dance in general, and the flamenco language in particular, and expand their role – carriers of Spanish geographical, ethnic and historical dance culture, into a tool for universal, personal, individual and relevant contemporary choreographic writing. This without giving up the coherence of flamenco, and out of respect and a real interest in physical and poetic virtuosity. The troupe has 26 diverse repertory productions, combining international dancers and musicians from Spain, singers, actors, theater directors and plastic artists. The band is highly regarded in Israel and around the world and regularly participates in international festivals.
